Together with the regional leader in solar energy solutions, LYS Energy Group (LYS), Extra Space Asia is committed to reducing its carbon footprint – by adopting renewable energy (RE) for its business practices. The first clean energy partnership with LYS started back in 2016 with an end-to-end solar energy solution that encompasses the installations of two solar photovoltaic systems for their Boon Keng and Kallang storage facilities in Singapore.
Within three short years, the solar energy systems have helped propel the company to be almost energy self-sufficient during the day, thus enabling Extra Space Asia to purchase clean electricity at a competitive price and reducing daily CO2 emissions by 249 tons.
Long-term partnership toward sustainable business
Leveraging on the success of its first two facilities, Extra Space Asia reaffirmed their commitment to sustainability by expanding its solar energy practice to two additional facilities in Singapore, alongside their trusted partner in RE energy, LYS. Both storage facilities in Ang Mo Kio and Eunos respectively will be expected to offset approximately 406 tons of CO2 annually, for the next 20 years.
